Walter Ronald Murley of Campbellsville, the son of the late Walter Bransford and Lillian Leona (Berry) Murley, was born January 23, 1950 in Taylor County, KY and departed this life on Thursday, September 8, 2022 in Greensburg at the Green Hill Manor. He was 72 years of age.
He served his country honorably, having served in the United States Army 101st Airborne Division during Vietnam, where he received a bronze service star, National Defense Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Air Medal, Expert Rifle and Expert M-60 MG.
He united in marriage to Janet (Cissell) Murley on July 20, 1974, who preceded him in death in 2020. Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by three brothers: Roger L. “Slick” Murley, Allen Murley and Ed Murley.
Survivors include a son: Shane Murley of Campbellsville; a sister: Pat Clark of Louisville; a brother: Bill Murley of North Carolina; a grandchild: Kaleigh Murley and fiance' Jacob Wilson of Campbellsville; two great-grandchildren: JoJo and Keelee and a host of other relatives and friends.
A graveside service for Walter Ronald Murley will be conducted Thursday, September 15, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. at the Lebanon National Cemetery with Full Military Honors by the Marion County Veterans Honor Guard with burial to follow.
