Johnie Marion Maxey, Sr. of Columbia, KY, the son of the late Harold William Maxey and Barbara Ann Haynes Maxey, was born November 19, 1955 in Lexington, KY and departed this life on Sunday, August 6, 2023 at his residence. He was 67 years of age.
He had professed faith in Christ and was a member of the Willisburg Baptist Church. He served his country honorably in the United States Army National Guard. He was a retired truck driver having worked for Cox Interior for 24 years. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Jessamine County and loved to fish, hunt, cut wood, and go to Keeneland.
He is survived by his wife Sandy Maxey, having united in marriage on December 27, 2002. One son: Johnie Maxey Jr. and wife Mindy of Lexington, Two step-sons: Glen Sparks II and companion Alanna Cannon, and Christopher Sparks. One brother and one sister: Jimmy Maxey and wife Sue, Diane Stinnett and husband Stanley all of Columbia. Four grandchildren: Jonathon Sparks, Hunter Demshar-Maxey, Haylee Maxey, and Colin Sparks. His Mother-in-law: Sallie Cook, and a brother-in-law: Bill Cook both of Knifley.
He was preceded in death by one brother: Jerry Maxey.
The family chose cremation and all services will be private.
