Jean Marie (Barker) Shimek

   Mrs. Jean Marie Shimek of Somerset, formerly of Campbellsville, was born in Chicago, Illinois on December 25, 1947. She departed this life on November 14, 2021 at the St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington after an illness. She was 73 years, 10 months, and 20 days of age. Mrs. Shimek was a former employee of Burger King, and a cherished mother and grandmother.

   She leaves to mourn her passing:

Children: Christine Singleton and husband Jason of Somerset, Daniel Shimek, and Sandra Price and husband Noel, all of Campbellsville, and Albert Barker of Bowling Green,

Two siblings: Mary Lou Barker of Chicago, and Phillip Barker of Campbellsville,
12 grandchildren,
10 great grandchildren,
And a host of other friends and family.

   She was also preceded in death by her parents: Henry and Eileen Barker; a long-time companion: George Urban; and two siblings: Michael Barker and wife Kathy, and Peggy Barker.

   There will be a funeral service to honor the life of Mrs. Shimek on Friday, November 19, 2021 at 7:00 PM EST in the chapel of the L.R. Petty Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 1765 New Columbia Rd, Campbellsville, KY 42718.
   The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, November 19, from 5:00 PM EST until time for the service.
   In following with Mrs. Shimek's wishes, cremation will be accorded her after the service.
