James W. Southern

   Mr. James W. Southern of Campbellsville was born in Salisaw, Oklahoma on September 10, 1942 to the late Willard and Loreda (Woods) Southern. He departed this life on Monday, May 10, 2021 at the Bluegrass Way Senior Living Center, being 78 years and 8 months of age. He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was of the Baptist faith.

   Mr. Southern made his living as a heavy equipment operator and was a retired superintendent for the water company and a former construction company owner. His passions in life always seemed to involve hard work and the outdoors, and he especially enjoyed the time he spent farming or hunting and fishing.

   He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mrs. Sandra Sue (Milby) Southern on May 16, 2017.

   He leaves to cherish his memory:

   A son, James Southern, Jr. and wife Tammy, and two other children,

   Three siblings: David Southern, Margaret Southern, and Deloris Walls, all of Oklahoma,

   And a host of other family members and friends.

   There will be a funeral service to honor the life of Mr. Southern on Thursday, May 13, 2021 at 10:00 AM in the chapel of the L.R. Petty Funeral Home, 1765 New Columbia, Rd, Campbellsville, KY. Bro. Jason Keltner and Bro. Don Gowin will be officiating. He will be laid to rest beside his wife in the Campbellsville Memorial Gardens Cemetery following the service.

   The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, May 12, from 5:00-8:00 PM.
