James Petkus Obituary

Mr. James Edward Petkus of the Casey Creek area passed away on Friday, August 2, 2019, in Louisville at the Norton Audubon Hospital after surgical procedures.

Born on May 28, 1945, in Medina, New York to the late Joseph and Josephine (Mack) Petkus, he was 74 years old. He was baptized in the Catholic faith.

After serving his country honorably in the United States Air Force, Mr. Petkus was employed at the Abex Corporation in Medina, New York for 20 years. Later,  James moved to South Carolina to be closer to his grandchildren. He retired from the Belton Middle School after 10 years as a custodian. He was a lifelong Cub and Boy Scoutmaster, not only with his sons but with his grandsons as well. He loved to study the Civil War and enjoyed being a reenactor for the Union.

Mr. Petkus was preceded in death not only by his parents, but also his wife, Mrs. Lucile Ruth (Kennedy) Petkus on September 16, 2018, and a brother, Joseph Petkus.

He leaves to mourn his passing:

Six children: James Petkus and wife Stacy of Spokane, WA, Charles Petkus and wife Sheryl of Henrietta, NY, Christine Goldstein and husband Scott of Anderson, SC, William “Billy” Kingdollar and wife Michelle of Casey Creek, David Kingdollar and wife Sherry of New York, and Larry Kingdollar and wife Polly of New York,

One sister: Dorothy Dutcher of Medina, NY,

Eleven grandchildren: Mason Petkus and Nathan Petkus, both of Boston, Massachusetts, and Payton Petkus of Henrietta, New York, Amy Gladfelter and husband Billy of Pennsylvania, Theresa Neale and husband Keith of New York, William Kingdollar, Jr. and wife Ashley of Tennessee, Jacob Kingdollar and wife Nini of Tennessee, Kimberley Kingdollar-Fritton and husband Alex of Colorado, and Deanna Kingdollar, Dustin Kingdollar, and Chase Kingdollar all of New York,

And a host of extended family and friends.

Mr. Petkus requested to be cremated and have his ashes returned to New York. There will not be a public visitation.
