Gilbert Lewis Ragland

          Gilbert Lewis Ragland, of Magnolia the son of the late Frank and Virginia Ella (Underwood) Ragland, was born July 31, 1927 in Hart County, KY and departed this life on Monday, January 25, 2021 at his home. He was 93 years of age.

          He was a former logger, saw mill worker and farmer and was of the Baptist Faith.

          Gilbert enjoyed hunting, fishing, ginseng digging, playing dominos, horseshoes and joy riding.

          He is survived by four daughters: Susan Horton of Horse Cave, Donna DeSpain and Kathy Smith both of Magnolia and Hilda Miller of Munfordville; twenty seven grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren, great great-grandchildren; his caretakers: Renee Brewer and Jennifer Pellman and other relatives and friends.

          Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife: Bettie (Hornback) Ragland a daughter and two sons: Betty Jane Decker, Johnnie G. Ragland and Frank Lewis Ragland, four grandchildren and ten brothers and sisters: Edwin, Robert, Walter, James, Calvin and Joseph Ragland, Bertha Dye, Ruby Oiler, Daisy Highball and Sally Ragland.

          The funeral service for Gilbert Lewis Ragland will be Thursday, January 28, 2021 at 1:00 P.M. EST (12:00) CST at the Benningfield Chapel Church in Larue County, KY with burial to follow in the church cemetery.

          Bro. Terry Priddy will be officiating.

          Family requests visitation from 11:30-1 (EST) 10:30-12:00 PM CST) on Thursday at the church.
