Gary Goodin Obituary

Mr. Gary Glenn Goodin of Campbellsville passed peacefully from this life on Monday, September 21, 2020 at his home. Son of the late Glenn Vilie and Ollie Alice (Roberts) Goodin, he was born on June 24, 1949 in Taylor County and was 71 years, 2 months, and 28 days of age. Mr. Goodin had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of Elkhorn United Methodist Church. He was a former truck driver and an employee of the Boco Station. He had served his community as a Taylor County Sheriff’s Deputy lake patrolman, and served his country honorably in the National Guard. Mr. Goodin loved people and had a naturally helpful heart. He enjoyed keeping his yard neat and in order, and shared many laughs with his family over a plate of frog legs.

He leaves to cherish his memory:

His wife: Mrs. Sue (Gilpin) Goodin,

Two children: Matt Goodin and wife Lesley of Greensburg, and Greg Walker and wife Jamie of Indiana,

Four siblings: Linda Williams and husband Richard, Delma Wise and husband Willard, and Shirley Newton and husband Dale, all of Campbellsville, and his twin sister Sherry Cowan and husband Phillip of Columbia,

Four grandchildren: Christian Goodin, Hannah Goodin, Kelsey Walker, and Nolan Walker,

And a host of other family and friends.

He was also preceded in death by a brother, Larry Goodin.

There will be a funeral service to honor the life of Mr. Goodin on Friday, September 25, 2020 at 11:00 AM in the chapel of the L.R. Petty Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 1765 New Columbia Rd, Campbellsville, KY. Bro. Ronnie Dooley and Bro. Jason Roop will be officiating. Burial will follow in the Campbellsville Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, Sept 24, from 5:00-8:00 PM.

Current CDC guidelines will be followed, including masks and social distancing.

In lieu of flowers, please consider memorials in the form of donations to the Elkhorn United Methodist Church Youth Group. Those can be made in person at the funeral home, or online through the “How Can I Help” tab on the front page of this site.
