Donnie Richerson

   Mr. Larry Donald “Donnie” Richerson of Campbellsville passed peacefully from this life on Monday, October 25, 2021 at his home. Born on July 17, 1943 in Taylor County to the late Dallas Preston “Pete” and Dorothy (McVay) Richerson, he was 78 years, 3 months, and 7 days of age. He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was of the Baptist faith. He was a retired machinist, and a cherished husband, father, and grandfather.

   Donnie partnered with Gene Hatcher, and together, they opened H&R Repair. They remained great friends throughout. He made automatic sewing equipment for Fruit of the Loom (and several other factories), selling and installing them across the United States, and various other pieces of custom equipment for other factories, both local and abroad. An authentic craftsman, Donnie loved fixing things - regardless of the size of the project - and he took great pride in his work. He enjoyed driving his tractor around his property (and his motorcycle around the countryside), searching the fields and creeks for arrowheads, or trading guns and knives, but his passion was in the time he spent with his family and grandchildren.

He leaves to cherish his memory:

   His wife: Connie (McGaha) Richerson,

   Two children: Mark Richerson and wife Meaghan of Vine Grove, and Shelly Rose of Campbellsville,

   A sister: Sandy Simpson and husband Richard of Campbellsville,

   Two grandchildren: Luke Richerson and Steven Liam Rose,

   His father-in-law: Russell McGaha,

   And a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.

   The family would like to thank Russ and Colleen Noe, Jeff and Sherry Kerr, Charles Nolley, and Norman and Peggy Sprowles for their help, care, and compassion, but above all, for their friendship. Their kind words and many visits helped make Donnie’s life easier and more normal.

   The family will receive friends for visitation on Thursday, October 28, 2021 from 5:00-8:00 PM in the chapel of the L.R. Petty Funeral Home. At Donnie’s request, cremation will follow. He will be laid to rest in the Campbellsville Memorial Gardens Cemetery at a later date.
