Carl Ray Cox of Campbellsville, the son of the late William Omar and Laura Mae (Pendygraft) Cox was born March 3, 1935 in Marion County, KY and departed this life on Sunday, May 15, 2022 at the Campbellsville Nursing and Rehab. He was 87 years of age.
He was a former plumber, a Lieutenant for the Louisville Metro Police Department in the 1980’s and was of the Baptist Faith.
He united in marriage to Ruth Ann (Edelyn) Cox, who preceded him in death.
Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a son: Ronnie Cox; seven brothers and sisters: Earl Cox, Margaret King, William Carroll “Bill” Cox, Charles Cox, Geraldine Cox, Wanda Dennison and June Cox.
Survivors include seven children: Allen Cox and wife Rebecca of Bardstown, David Cox and wife Tammy and Debra Meyhew both of Louisville, Teresa Hunt of Lebanon, Anna Harris and husband Jody, Danny Cox both of Campbellsville and Missy Reynolds and husband Jim of Maine; seventeen grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; special friends: Ellis Bryant and Randall Rafferty and a host of other relatives and friends.
The funeral service for Carl Ray Cox will be Tuesday, May 24, 2022 at 3:00 P.M. in the chapel of the L.R. Petty Funeral Home with burial to follow in the St. Francis De Sales Cemetery in the Spurlington Community.
Rev. Freddy Thompson will be officiating.
Visitation after 1:00 P.M. until time for the service.
