Mr. Bobby Dee Cheek of Sparta, Georgia, formerly of Campbellsville, passed from this life on Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at the U of L Jewish Hospital after an illness. Born on July 13, 1944 to the late Quaver Arana and Zelma (Lawson) Cheek, he was 77 years, 5 months, and 16 days of age. He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Cheek was retired from the GE plant in Louisville, and was a veteran, having served his country honorably in the United States Navy. He was the husband of Mrs. Shirley Ann (Rhule) Cheek, who preceded him in death on December 20, 2015.
He leaves to cherish his memory:
Three children: Billy Carmickle and wife Debbie of Campbellsville, Terry Carmickle and wife Donna of Louisville, and Lori Carmickle of Campbellsville,
Four siblings: Cecil Cheek of Louisville, Jewell Swartz of Elizabethtown, Jerry Cheek of Sparta, Georgia, and Michael Cheek and wife Cheryl of Sparta, Georgia,
Nine grandchildren: Brad Curry and wife Kristen, Heather Curry, Billy Joe Carmickle, Terry Carmickle, II, Chad Carmickle and wife Kristi, Kerra Carmickle, Shane Vaughn, Jeremy Vaughn and wife Sarah, and Daniel Williamson,
Twenty great-grandchildren,
And a host of other family and friends.
There will be a funeral service to honor the life of Mr. Cheek on Monday, January 3, 2022 at 11:00 AM in the chapel of the L.R. Petty Funeral Home, 1765 New Columbia Rd, Campbellsville, KY. Bro. Tim Shockley will be officiating. He will be laid to rest beside his wife in the Callahan Cemetery, 4571 Speck Ridge Rd, Elk Horn, KY. Full military honors will be conducted by the Marion County Veterans Honor Guard.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, Jan. 2, from 5:00-8:00 PM.
